The Bug Free Hammock Shield by Trek Light Gear is the solution you've been waiting for to enjoy your hammock in every environment...without the bugs. It weighs only 16oz and packs into its own attached pouch just like our hammocks! At 525 holes per square inch this netting gives you the perfect balance of breathability, visibility and bug protection.
Don't be fooled by other so-called 'skeeter beeter' hammocks that feature a bug net attached to the top of the hammock only - mosquitoes are more than capable of biting you right through the bottom of the hammock! The Bug Free Hammock Shield completely encloses your Trek Light Hammock (or any other non-spreader bar hammock) and since it's a separate accessory you can easily enjoy the hammock without the netting when the bugs aren't an issue.
Setting up the Bug Free Hammock Shield is easy!
1.) The mosquito netting is a long tube, you just feed the hammock through the tube, attach it to the tree like you normally would and then use the attached drawstring to close the netting at one end.
2.) The Bug Free Hammock Shield also comes with a piece of cord that functions as a ridgeline - just tie it from tree to tree above the hammock.
3.) You'll notice that the top of the netting has some loops and string attached to it, this is for connecting the netting to the ridgeline which keeps the netting elevated and out of your face while you're in the hammock. Just tie or clip (our ultralight carabiners make a great addition to the Bug Free Hammock Shield) the netting to the ridgeline.
4.) That's it! Climb in the hammock and pull the netting over your head and use the extra-long drawstring to cinch it tight at the end of the hammock. The ridgeline makes it easy to slide the netting back and forth when you're getting in and out.
